Dhandevi lives in Mugu with her husband and daughter. Her family is actively involved in agriculture and Dhandevi recently became a member of the Mugu Livelihood Phase Farmers Group. Here, she learnt various ways in which to prepare nutritious food and discovered the importance of regular health check-ups.

With the support of the PHASE health team, she has been able to receive all the health advice necessary for a healthy baby and mother. When she was pregnant, she unaware of the importance of a healthy diet, but she now shares, “It has been easier for me to maintain a healthy diet. I eat vegetables, rice and pulses that I produce in my garden. I also mix green vegetables and rice – super food for my baby as well. I have easy access to health advise and kitchen garden support. According to the ANMs, I have been feeding my baby healthily. On our latest visit to the health post, we were told that my baby had gained weight and was healthy!”

As an active member of the farmers group, Dhandevi received kitchen garden management training and seeds of cabbages, spinach and tomatoes, which have enabled her to maintain a healthy life. She shared, “This training has supported my family to produce plenty of nutritious food. After learning about the advantages of having healthy food for my baby and family, providing a good diet has become much more important. Thank you to PHASE for supporting us to improve our food habits for a healthy family.”
