We are really excited to launch our Big Give Christmas Campaign this year where all donations will be DOUBLED!
We have worked with the community in Rugin for several years now. And have made a significant impact in the increase of births conducted in a safe health facility rather than in a remote community far from help. We have also reduced child malnutrition rates and increased the diet diversity of the community through agricultural programmes. BUT our nurses have told us one root cause of many of the challenges in the health centre is the young age at which girls are leaving school, getting married and ultimately having children before their bodies are ready for it.
This is why, this year, we are launching an appeal to keep girls in school in Rugin, give them the confidence and opportunity to reach towards their dreams, train mentors to work with girls to increase their confidence and aspirations. We are also going to work with the community to change their ambitions for the girls. We are also very importantly going to work with the boys and the teachers so that the whole schools and community environment becomes one of support.
