Emergency Appeal Update

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the emergency flood appeal, we’ve had an overwhelming response, donations continue to come in. We have currently received (with gift aid) almost £37,000.

We’ve had updates for the PHASE Nepal team in the last couple of days. Several members of staff have been travelling out to the affected areas and communicating with the government to collaborate relief plans.  PHASE have managed to get a truck to the Rasuwa district and have delivered rice, lentils, tea, oil and other foods to 72 families. The food should last 15 days, they can then re-supply. They plan to help support another 200 families but the communities. One side of the river is extremely hard to reach due to there now being no river crossings. Drones deliveries are being used for the most isolated. The damage to the crossings has not been repaired yet and may take a long time; the team are in talks with a company to see if they can help facilitate this.

They have received requests from the government to support identified communities. As well as food, to build shelters and a transition centre. The PHASE team are working on the final numbers, design and assessing the saftest places to build.

PHASE Nepal have been co-ordinating delivery of six solar power systems to set up at health posts in the flood affected area. Solar systems will need to be airlifted to sites by helicopter as only one of the health posts is reachable by road. Preparation of the six power systems is complete and transfer to the project sites will be starting in conjunction with the government in the coming day.

We will continue to update on progress made.

Your kindness and support is greatly appreciated, thank you
