Naina

Naina Jaisi, 39, lives in a village in Mugu. She had never grown vegetables before the project started but is now one of the village’s most respected farmers, producing more than 15 varieties of vegetables each year. As winter approaches, Naina is feeling confident. Her polytunnel will help her grow crops throughout the cold months and she has a large harvest of cabbage in storage underneath her house.

I am not worried about the cold and dry season as I know the right way to grow vegetables. I am going to grow green leafy mustard, cauliflower, and radish in the polytunnel. The autumn harvest was so good that I have hundreds of cabbages in storage. I am going to give some of them to relatives, but the rest I will either store or take to the local market to sell,” shares Naina.
