29 April, 2017
5:00 pm
Keswick, Cumbria,

Join PHASE Worldwide and Lakeland Mountain Guides on 29th April 2017 at the ‘Lakeland Festival of Light’ – a fundraiser for Nepalese earthquake victims

At this unique event we will light up three adjoining fells by inviting over 500 people along with their head torches to create blocks of colour, and in turn give the illusion of Nepalese prayer flags running along the mountainside. The suggested minimum donation is £20 per person. If you are able to donate £40 or more you will receive an event t-shirt and set of Nepalese prayer flags.

WHEN? Saturday 29th April – 17:00 Rawnsley Centre, Keswick

We will meet at the Rawnsley Centre where there will be a quick Welcome followed by a raffle and cake sale. We will then walk to the village of Braithwaite. This is a 2.5 mile walk and will take about 1 hour. Once in Braithwaite we will split the groupa cross the three fells, get everyone lined up and hand out the acetate that will create the blocks of colour. Once in position our three fantastic photographers will snap the event. Once the photos are taken everyone can either descend and head back to Keswick or continue to the respective summits from their position. For updates on the event please follow the Facebook event here.

The photographers for the 2017 event will be the same amazing team from the Catbells Festival of Light. In 2016 the photographers donated 50% of the picture sale profits to the charity helping to raise an extra several hundred pounds. Sales of the picture from the 2017 event will be made public after the event.

The event is being sponsored by Little Chamonix Cafe of Keswick. The team supported the 2016 event by selling home baked cakes on the lead up to and on the night of the event. The team will again be baking and selling cakes to add to the funds!

*Please do not email us about registering for this event, simply turn up in Keswick on the night!*

Do I need to bring my own torch?
Yes please. a Head torch or small handheld will work great. Please refrain from bringing large super bright lights.

Do I need a ticket?
This is NOT a ticketed event, simply pay your donation and turn up!

Can dogs come?
Of course they can. Dogs must be kept on a lead if they cannot be trusted around livestock.

How do we pay our donations?
To pay your donation online, use the form below. You can also pay donations in cash on the night. There will also be a raffle and cakes to buy from our headline sponsor Little Chamonix.

Is it suitable for young children or people who don’t want to walk far?
Sure is! All the mountains need to be lined from the bottom to the top, so some people only have to do a few hundred metres.

Last year, to mark the one year anniversary of the earthquake Lakeland hosted the ‘Catbells Festival of Light’ where they managed to get 500 people to line up on the fell in the Lake District in order to capture the spectacular picture below:

This year they have chosen PHASE Worldwide as their charity partner and they hope to make an even more spectacular scene. For more information on how to get involved and attend this unique event head to their webpage here or view their Facebook event
