Looking for a cycling challenge?  Or want to go to Paris?  The way to arrive is by bike, according to Dan Saunders…

“I took part in the first PHASE London to Paris cycle ride last year because I wanted a new challenge and to improve my fitness and what better excuse did I need but to raise money for charity!

Dan on the flat quiet road of northern France

I really enjoyed myself, made some good friends and discovered that the very best way to arrive in Paris is by bike!

The first day from London to Newhaven was quite a challenge, mainly because of the terrible weather. The views toward the coast were great and kept me going on that final  stretch to our accommodation for the night – time to dry off, take a warm shower and head out for a meal!  Up early on the second day to get the ferry to Dieppe, we arrived about 2pm and then had to make  it to Gournay en Bray by dark, so had to cover 45  flat miles in less than 5 hours. Luckily it was flat and mainly off road, plus the weather had cheered up so it was a pleasant day.  The last day was the longest so again, we had an early start  – there was a real sense of team spirit and support for each other and that gave me the last bit of energy I needed.

It was an amazing sense of achievement to emerge from some woodland to see the Eiffel Tower for the first time and even greater sense of achievement when you actually arrive there.  The support team had brought a bottle of fizz to greet us with and after some celebration we headed off to celebrate with our final meal together in Paris!

I came back to the UK and promised myself that I’d keep my cycling going but now I need a new challenge!  I’m keeping on training through the winter (Uk weather allowing) and have even joined our local cycling group which has been an inspiration in itself.  And I have signed up to do the challenge in 24 hours in 2014 – so looking forward to it and hope you’ll consider joining us.  PHASE is such a worthwhile cause to raise money for and the support crew do a super job of looking after the group.”

Challenge yourself to bike 212 miles between two of the world’s most chic capitals.  Peddle through lovely English villages and into the stunning countryside of north France, where you will journey along the Avenue Verte.

The Eiffel Tower from the outskirts of Paris, a sight you will never forget.

We will provide a full support team, accommodation, transport for you and your bike, some meals (including a celebration meal in Paris), snacks and pre-programmed sat navs.  Much of the route is off road and planned to avoid traffic – all you have to do is cycle.

Places are limited and filling up fast so register your interest today!
